The Land of The Morning Calm

I recently returned from a trip to the Land of the Morning Calm. South Korea, officially known as the Republic of Korea, is home to the world’s second largest metropolitan city Seoul, which is also the countries capital. South Korea is more than 5000 years old and during that time has been under China and Japan’s rule. Like with any invasion and long term ruler ship the cultures tend to mend together to create new and exciting versions of their former selves. There is nothing that reflects this more than a cultures food. The spiciness from Korea, the freshness and artfulness of Japan combined with the rich and delicate sauces of China can only leave one hoping for more.
Though most of my time spent in Korea was business related I certainly made time to see and taste what Korea had to offer. I lived in Korea for a year so I knew exactly what to expect and what I wanted. Here’s a little taste of what the Land of the Morning Calm has to offer. Enjoy!Something New to Learn About Insurance

Some of you I am sure already know this, but when I recently learned the difference between a Captive Agent and an Independent Insurance Agent, I thought WOW, I didn't realize that.
I am sure I am not the only one out there that didn't realize the great benefits of using and Independent Agent and asked a local independent agent Mary Maki from Desert Canyon Insurance to share what the benefits of choosing an independent agent is.

Summer. What exactly is summer? Does summer have the same meaning to you as it has to me? Summer has many meanings to many different people all around the world. Some would say summer is “The season between spring and autumn, in the Northern Hemisphere from the summer solstice to the autumnal equinox, and in the Southern Hemisphere from the winter solstice to the vernal equinox.” And to these people I would say, “Get real”. Or one might argue that “summer is a period of hot, usually sunny weather” or “the hotter half of the year.” I’m sure some of us would go as far as saying summer is when your shoes melt to the pavement or when your steering wheel in your car is untouchable for the first few miles. This is all fine and dandy but it does not describe what summer means to me. Summer is what it says it is…SUMMER!

District was held this past weekend on April 12 at Parkview Elementary.
Over 2000 attendees enjoyed live music, local dance and sport performances, met with over 70 local businesses and community groups and enjoyed fun activities for the whole family on a beautiful sunny day.
The great success of the fair helped SignonSurprise.com raise $1500.00 for Dimes for Dysart, a program that benefits disadvantaged children and the summer school scholarship program.

Incase you haven’t heard... another Wal-Mart is in the works to be located at the 303 and Waddell in Surprise. The so called upper end development of Prasada will be hosting this addition. This Wal-Mart will be the third one in Surprise and technically it is the fourth if you count the Wal-Mart at Dysart and Waddell only a hop, skip, and a jump from the new proposed location.

Spring Training is here and the Youth T-Ball and Softball season will be starting up soon. SignonSurprise.com recently received a letter from the City of Surprise Community and Recreation Department soliciting Sponsorship to help offset the program fees that are charged to our residents to participate in the program. The sponsorships range from $100.00 for a Team Sponsorship all the way up to $4000.00 for a Youth Baseball Complex.
I will quickly say that the fee of $40.00 that the City of Surprise charges for participation in their youth program is very reasonable. I am glad to see the City keeping the fees low so that all families have a chance for their children to play sports.
What I find ridiculous is that they are soliciting money from local businesses to supposedly offset the program fees. From a personal stand point it is just another way for the City to dig deeper into the pockets of local businesses.

Surprise finally has a nice selection of coffee shops to choose from and as someone who loves coffee, I am always eager to try them out! Now, if you’re one that grew up on Folgers or any other pre-packaged tub or tin coffee, then my guess is you like hot water with a tinge of flavor. So, you probably won’t agree with my opinion as I didn’t grow up on that stuff and don’t even consider it coffee. A good cup of coffee is strong and aromatic and might even grow some hair on your chest (the last part was a joke). So, here is my opinion on the local coffee shops.

Forget about Tupperware or scrapbooking parties. These days it seems the buzz for women in Arizona is getting together with friends and talking about improving their love life.
At these slumber parties, a product distributor comes to your home and presents for “ladies only” age 18 and over, products like lotion and toys to help add some spice into the relationship. Donna Mazurkewicz, is a Slumber Parties Consultant, although she’s also been called a “romance specialist.”
